This is a bone marrow embolus. You can clearly see that bone marrow has lodged itself into the blood vessels of the lung. But if you couldn't identify these two tissues, this dramatic sight would mean nothing to you. Bone marrow emboli, by the way, tend to be caused by rib-cracking chest compressions during CPR. Pathological processes like these, however, are beyond the scope of this course and obviously you are not responsible for this material. This is simply one example of the things you will encounter in the future that will depend upon your mastery of histology now.
